The stones, weighing 31 and 15 tonnes, have been brought from Nepal and will be used to create the idols of Lord Ram and Lord Janki.

The stones are believed to have been brought from the Gandaki River in Nepal. Ram Mandir: Shaligram stones from Nepal reach Ayodhya Highlights

• A delegation of 150 people, which included priests from the Janaki Temple in Janakpur and VHP national secretary Rajendra Singh Panka, made a 100 km pilgrimage from Pokhara to Galeshwar Dham in Janakpur to transport two Shaligram stones to the site of construction in Ayodhya.
• According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram is said to be the manifestation of Lord Vishnu, and these stones symbolize the spiritual connection between the two gods. People in Ayodhya welcomed these stones with flowers, prayers, and celebratory firecrackers.
• The stones were initially taken from the Kali Gandaki waterfall in Nepal and then transported to Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur on Tuesday late at night.

Nepal's Sacred Shaligram Stone History:

Since ancient times, the utilization of Shaligrama shilas in veneration has been connected to Adi Shankara's sacred writings. Specifically, his interpretation of the verse in Taittiriya Upanishad, and his elucidation of the verse of the Brahma Sutras, indicate that the practice of worshipping Vishnu with Shaligrama Shilas has been a traditional Hindu practice. The statues of Vishnu at the Padmanabhaswamy Temple of Thiruvananthapuram and Badrinath Temple of Garhwal region, as well as those of Krishna at Krishna Matha of Udupi and Radha Raman Temple of Vrindavana, are assumed to be constructed from Shaligrama Shilas.
